Wisbech Youth Council help Wisbech Street Pride

On Saturday 23rd March the Wisbech Youth Council helped Street Pride plant shrubs in St Peters Car Park in a square that had been for a long time been occupied by an overgrown bush.

The morning concentrated on filling two big plastic buckets with rocks and then raking the area over. Three trees and several small bushes were then planted to brighten up the area.

Elliott Johnson (Youth Council Chairman) said that ‘by helping Street Pride the Youth Council had given something small back to the community. We will certainly be doing something like this again’.

Elliott also would like to give thanks to Street Pride as much of the gardening and litter picking work in Wisbech is done by this group of dedicated volunteers.

Elliott Johnson, the Chairman of the Wisbech Youth Council, wishes to thank all those local businesses who donated prizes for the Wisbech Youth Council Tombola at the Christmas Market.

The Youth Council raised £203.19, despite the bitter cold and rain, which will go towards hiring a meeting room and an indoor concert that is in planning stages at this moment.

Elliott says that ‘the amount of generosity local businesses showed was great.  I hope that local business will be able to feel a little bit proud when they see a Youth Council event, as the prizes they gave funded a proportion of it.’

The Youth Council were also at the Wisbech Lights Switch On raising money for their cause.
